Places in goa to visit: Carambolim Lake is a man-made freshwater lake, built to facilitate irrigation of the nearby fields. It lies in Tiswadi taluka within walking distance of the Karmali Railway station. Due to its rich ecology, a wide variety of waterfowl throng the Carambolim Lake regularly every year, making it a bird watcher's paradise. l'he jacanas, moorhens, herons, and egrets are the residents while the pintails, lesser whistling teals, shovelers, garganeys, and coots are among the visitors.

This bird sanctuary is situated on the peaceful island of Chorao (4 km from Panjim) and is named after the great ornithologist, Dr. SalimAli. A 10-minute ferry ride across the River Mandovi from the Ribandar ferry point gets you to the entrance of the sanctuary. Local youth with canoes are ever ready to paddle their guests around the meandering canals. They can identify the birds quite well and are well worth the fee they charge. The sanctuary provides a safe haven to local as well as migratory birds. A few of the birds sighted here are -osprey, cormorants, egrets, curlew, sandpipers,
